Recent Comments from Our Visitors: "As I read Undoing Depression, I couldn't believe a total stranger could be telling my life story." "I stayed up late tonight to finish your book, 'Undoing Depression.' To say that it has had a profound effect on my life is an understatement. It has SAVED my life. Not just physically, but emotionally, since until now I was dead to happiness or joy, and now I have found I can help myself by the advice of someone who, though never meeting me, seems to know my condition intimately. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, and by the way, Thank you." "Hi! I'm 22, I've been depressed for over a year now and am still looking for reasons for why this happened to me. I just discovered your site and I really like the way you delineated guilt and shame in your section, "Shame: Destructive or Useful?" I'm still learning how to recognize my emotions, like anxiety or guilt, but I didn't know until now that the aching feeling I sometimes have of hatred (towards myself) is shame. It always felt too strong to be guilt but, all this time, I never knew how to describe it. THANK YOU for clarifying that...at least now I know what I'm dealing with. Also, I've saved the page on choosing a therapist...I found a counselor I liked through my university, but a depressed family member of mine doesn't have that option. Your information could help her make that first step, when she's ready. Thank you, and God Bless!" |
